service in Indiana

Hi -

Does anyone out there know of a service facility in Elkhart, IN? Will be passing thru there in August and will be in need of an oil and filter change right about then.

Thanks for any help.
Ed

Hi Ed,

I know of one (Holiday World of Indiana) that I definitely would not recommend. They messed our coach up quite badly and were removed from the CC list of recommended shops. One that I have not used but we did spend time in their showroom is Hart City RV. These folk sell Monaco and Newmar coaches and have a clean operation with several service bays. You can also camp there if you wish and have the opportunity to study the "competition". Both places are on the west side of State Road 19 south of the 80/90 Toll way.
Holiday World is about one mile south of Toll way (north end of Elkhart), Harts is three or four mile further south about southwest of town.

Have fun,

Peter & Marian, Fort Wayne IN.

Hi Ed,

You did not say which direction you are coming from or going to. If you are near Fort Wayne, you could visit the Cummins Service Center there. I use Cummins Service Centers for my oil changes, etc. They have the necessary oil, fuel, and coolant filters, and they know the engine. I have been satisfied with the service I have received to date.

Ed, Peter's suggestion about Cummins is really good but I think they need an appointment most of the time. I carry my own filters and usually hit a major truck stop for an oil change and grease job if I need it on the road. I haven't had any problems and they are quite willing to do the work.

How often does everyone change their oil? I usually go about 8K and then do the change. Any thoughts?

Good point John, it is always difficult to get into Camp Cummins almost everywhere in the country. We change our oil per the schedule for the ISC engine - 15,00 to 18,000 miles - MUCH better than the pre-ISC engines that recommended 3,000 miles (ouch).

By the way John, we are in Fort Wayne Indiana, near no east-west routes (80/90 55 miles north, 74 and 70 120 miles south). We leave for FL on July 13th, back around 23rd or so will be out of town anyway when you go west. We probably have to go to Las Vegas again in August and, who knows, we might even hook up on the road somewhere. We also have another two FL trips yet this year - Orlando in September and Tampa late October. Possibility also of visit to NJ in the fall (North Bergen up by Manhattan).
Anyway, we would love to catch up with you somewhere, Marian (she who must be obeyed) does not believe that there is another miserable old fart who never has any fun!

Peter.
