New Member / Factory Visit

Hi Y'All,

I just joined the group and really appreciate the spirit and the mutual support which I see here.

My wife and I are leaving next week to attend the Life On Wheels seminar at the University of Idaho during the week of 9-13 July 2001, and have made an appointment to visit the Country Coach factory after the seminar is complete. I would very much appreciate it if you could suggest some questions or concerns which I should address with the Country Coach factory representative while I am there. We are considering ordering an Intrigue to use as full-timers.

Thanks for your help!

Michael

You have chosen an excellent coach. The Intrigue has much bang for the buck and about the most storeage. I would suggest options as available as a Jake Brake and the larger HP engine. Also have them install grey and black water flushouts. Re: The tour. Take your time and snoop around. You can chat with anyone throughout their entire production facility. If you are a first time buyer then read all the posts on this site and also try the RV America site that has a "luxury class motorhome evaluations" page under reviews pull down window. http://www.rvreviews.com/masterResults.cfm?Type=Luxury-Class% 20Motorhomes CC has a good support network. Your in good hands!

From my 5th wheel experience I had already determined to go for the horsepower and tank flush systems, and I had read quite a bit about the advantages (necessity) of Jake Brakes, but I appreciate your validating those considerations. I have accessed "rvreviews" as you suggested and really appreciate your putting me onto that website. We are debating between the Newmar Mountain Aire and the Country Coach Intrigue (Intrigue in the lead at this time), and both look good in the reviews. We were also considering the Monaco Windsor but I have read horror stories about dealing with Monaco -- I hoped to get onto the Monaco user's group to hopefully get a different side to the story, but it appears that I will not be allowed to join that group. Both the newmarowners group and the countrycoachowners group have provided very positive perspectives on their coaches.
I am looking foreward to moving from a 5th wheel to a Class A coach, and appreciate all the help I can get on making that move.

Thanks again for your input,

Michael

Hi Michael. Call me when you get to Moscow and we can talk CC! I expect to arrive July 6 after 4 days in Coeur D'Alene. I am in Canada today.

Hi Mike, I was just perusing the mail since I haven't had a chance to get on to the site for a while and came across your comments. I'm sure I'll find a lot of answers past my response but here goes anyway.
I was one of the unfortunates that owned a Holiday Rambler Endeavor.
It was my first diesel and I thought that I had finally entered the world of motor homing and was really proud that I had. Unfortunately, I broke down on almost every trip we took. We were towed five times in addition to the coach falling apart around us. (The television over the driver came off its mounts twice while driving, the slide motor blew up while extended,...,...,...) Okay, the coach was a problem but the bigger problem was Holiday Rambler (Monaco) management who could not have cared less about my travails. If you needed a part, you couldn't call them up and ask for it, you had to go to an authorized HR (Monaco) dealer and have him get the part. If you had not purchased your coach through him, forgedaboudit. It didn't matter what kind of problems you had, they couldn't have cared less. Lazy Days of Florida took the coach back on their own, after we hired an attorney and started battling with HR. They offered me my first Country Coach that was just changing model years and had been on display for a while and I haven't looked back. I now have an Intrigue and although it too has been plagued by problems, I get full support from the CC team. If I need a part and I can do the work, they ship it right out to me. What a blessing. We're slowly getting the bugs out of this unit but I'll tell you, quality wise, it's hard to beat a CC. We owned a Newmar Kountry Aire Gas model, and that too was one really great coach but it was terribly under powered and that's when we traded up to the HR diesel. My recommendation would be to go for the CC, the service techs and staff and great, as is the quality of the coach. Our problems have been with the Hurricane System, and the Inverter. Neither of these are made by Country Coach and they got most of the bugs out. (we'll see when the cold air comes back) I do believe their latest recall on the Hurricane heat system may have had to do with many of the problems I had. I hope this information helps you a little, happy camping, John Panzenhagen
