CG in Glenwood Springs, Colo.

We just returned from a month long trip and had the unfortunate experience to stay in a Good Sam Park in Glenwood Springs, Colo. They take out a half page ad touting all their amenities, i.e. voted #1 park in Colo. This has to be a mistake. We have been motorhoming since '79 and have never felt more ripped off. True, the spots are by the river but .....the train runs by all night long; it's loud, toots its horn and blasts you awake every few hours.
.....the road down to the campground in unpaved and narrow; if you meet someone coming up, one of you must back up which is a feat in itself as it is not a straight road.
.....there are no sewer connections at any of the sites; only a communal dump .....the ad says cable TV------no such luck.
.....and you get to pay $40 a night!
In all the miles we have traveled, we have never called Good Sam and complained but we sure did this time and advised that someone check out this park before accepting any more ad money and endorsements.
On a more positive note, if you want to stay at one of best campgrounds we have ever seen, try the one in Breckenridge, Colo., _____?_____ Run. (Unfortunately, our camping book is in the RV in storage and neither of us can remember the first word in the name; another "senior moment!") It's magnificent and centrally located for a longer stay.

We stayed there this summer and I can echo her comments. There is a wonderful bicycle trail that runs in front of the park. You can ride it into Breckenridge or even ride it into Frisco and from there pick up the bike trail that goes over the Vail Pass (big-time ride).
Also, thanks to the list members who advised me that we would be fine taking highway 9 south over to the pass to Fairplay. We didn't have any problems at all; this new CC handles so much better than our old (1995) one.
