Duo-Therm Comfort Control Center

Yahoo Message Number: 12678
Problem: After turning the unit to the on, selecting the furnace mode and setting the temp. the furnace may not come on right away.
Often if there is a delay the mode display will fade completely away and may or may not return after hitting the mode key again. A factory tech told me how to reset by holding the mode and zone key down while turning the unit off then on. This problem was intermittent before but now I can not get the reset procedure to work and I get an "EE" code on the display and the furnace cannot be set to come on. The Hydro-Hot unit is working so the hot water is there.

Duo-Therm Tech advises to take it to a service center (which are backed up for two weeks). I will call CC Support on Monday. Problem is that I have five days until we head south.

Would appreciate any suggestion on dealing with this issue.

Thanks,

Rich,

The problem you describe seems to be identical to a problem I had last year. The final solution was to replace the communications link cable between the air-conditioners and replace the control board to the latest edition. Did CC or Duo-Therm as you to disconnect ant then reconnect a cable in the air-conditioners? If they didn't you might want to try that a temporary fix. The cable is comm link is nothing more than a phone cord about thirty feet or so long with modular connections on each end. To get the right length I bought 6 or 8 conductor cable I can't remember which, and used a cheap crimping tool to add the ends. Duo-Therm talked me through it. I'll send an e-mail tonight when I look at the cable. Duo-Therm also told me that I had to frog (cross) two of the wires for the cable to work properly. Doing this got one of my zones back until I could get the board replaced. During the time I was talking to Duo-Therm I seem to recall that there was a way to swap a connection in the air-conditioners that forced both zones to work are the same time. Sort of a limp mode for the furnace. Good luck and talk to Duo-Therm they were very helpfull at the time since it would have been impossible for me to get to a service center..
