Propane tank size ??

I've been working under the impression that my propane tank was a 42 gallon size tank. It is written on a "Motorhome weight sheet" in the bath cabinet that I have a 42 gallon tank.
I was checking the actual propane tank the other day and see I have a 24 gallon tank. What size would be "normal" ?? Is there any reason for the "smaller" tank ??

Our '98 Intrigue has a 42 (42.5?) gal LP tank. From what I understand, all-electric coaches and those with diesel-fired furnaces typically have smaller LP tanks.

Do "all electric" coaches have LP tanks???? What are they used for?
Duhhhhh (slapping self on forehead) ... I think I misspoke and should've left out "all-electric coaches." I can't think of why they'd need an LP tank, either!

But one with diesel-fired heat would.

While the diesel fuel can power the diesel furnace, the LP is needed for the stove, refrigerator and water heater.
Sorry for my earlier error. We had our 17-year-old terrier put to sleep today and I'm a little out of sorts :(

Oh, I am so sorry to hear of your lost. I lost my 17 year old plus Lhasa Apso in June. He was my conpanion since he was about eight weeks old. It still is hard to talk about him. I completely understand.
My bus conversion is I all electric, except it has a diesel fired furnance, so when I read your post, I couldn't understand what propane would have to do with the diesel furnance. Obviously, it doesn't.

Thanks for the information. I understand what you were trying to convey .

It makes sense, as I do have a diesel fired furnace. As a matter of fact I'm working the heck out of it now...Seems So Cal is suffering from a cold snap.

I wish I knew more of how to keep warm in this weather. I've been running the GenSet until sleep time and then piling on the blankets . Works for now.

Having very recently purchased a 2003 36' Allure with the small LP tank, we learned LP is needed only for the stove & fridge. The Hydronic heating system (Hurricane)uses diesel to fire the burner.
This in turn provides the heat and continuous hot water for the coach.

New CC owners, Sunriver floor plan, double s/o.

I assume you are dry camping?

How much battery does the diesel fired furnace use? We are in Texas (cold) right now and heading to Missouri (colder) before we head home to Florida (ahhhh). We too are using the hydronic heat (which we love) but we are hooked up to electricity, I am just curious.

I have a fair amount of experience with battery usage of a hydronic system in cold weather when dry camping. I had a BlueBird with a Primus, a coach with a Hurricane and no the Hydrihot in my Allure. I dry camp a fair amount in the winter.

My experience. The boiler and pumps use about 8-10 amps when running. The fans use about half that at 5 amps for a total of about 15 amps. At 25 degrees I find that it all runs about half the time.
Thus, if you are looking at a 10 hour night the system wiil use about 15 amp/hr times 5 hours or 75 amp hours. A forced air propane system would use a little more electricity, be noisier and less comfortable.

At 25F, my HydroHeater diesel system draws ~3.5amps and uses ~2.1gal/day to maintain 70F in my 38ft coach. It is very quiet and can barely be heard inside the coach.

I wish I could a agree on how quiet the system is. I use only the front system at night, because of the noisy squirrel cage blower fans, and the diesel burner is much louder than the water heater . TWI 2004 Ovation.

Difficult to tell. Right now I run the GenSet for a couple of hours at night and then shut everything down and snuggle into my heavy blankets. In the morning I turn on the GenSet and heat to bring it all back up to "liveable" levels.

As I'm learning the systems and how they interact I hope to better be able to answer a question like that in the near future.
Just a guess but I can go check the battery draw without the heat on, turn on the heat and check the difference ??? Might that work ??

Sorry, forgot to answer the original question...yes, I'm sort of dry camping. I have a yard / office in Fontana and "stay" in the coach.
The BEST excuse to get more time in it !!!

I'm going to run 30 amp service out to the coach next week.
