Wondering about clearcoating roof with brush/roller

Any thoughts on this. Seems like it would eliminate white streaks on the side. Using a brush or roller may not leave the most appealing finish, but it's hard to see the top of the roof anyway.
Besides, the white streaks are not very appealing either and you can see that from the ground. Don't even know if you can get clearcoat in a can.

Hi Larry,

Sometime this year early on there was several threads associated with this subject. One stood out as is was a 25 year white coating applied with a roller and brush. I used clear Krylon (spray can) as a stop gap after steel wooling the entire roof down to the beading around the top. It's been on for a year now and holding up well. I would look for the 25 year coating thread, but it's the Season! Fred Kovol

Larry,

If you are getting white streeks already your roof needs waxing with some type of UV protector or else your clear coat on the sides will start to come off. You need to use a car type compounder on the roof and then something like 303.and then think about clear coating. But get rid of the chaulking now.

I put a coat of Protect-All on it last week. I'm sure I'll have to steel wool/sand the roof when I get ready to apply something on top.

Hi Larry,

The flat white coating on the roof has full uv portection with a white pigment (titanium doixide) in the coating. If you happen to scratch through that layer to the bear fiberglass - the glass deteriates rapidly. Consider only using fine steel wool.
