Winter storage Battery Related, O4 Allure

Yahoo Message Number: 13922
I seem to have house battery drain real bad even if I shut off the main battery switch in the back. This is a real problem for any longer term storage. I hope I do not have to disconnect the batteries but maybe that is what has to be done.

Any experience??

I can't speak much for the newer coaches, mine is a 99, but when I replaced all the batteries I found that the only cable not subject to the shut-off switches is a cable that goes directly to the generator. All others should be killed with the switches and there should be no power drain. Maybe your new coach has different wiring. You might want to study the wiring diagram provided with your coach.

Al, early last month we had the same problem, someone told me to find the purple wire going to the fuse links in the compartment next to the batteries. Pull the fuse link and it stops the 1-2 amp draw for the backup camera etc. The number on my purple wire was not the same as the one descriped in the post. CC tech service told me my wire was not numbered correctly. Have had no further drain. John 2002 Allure

Al,

Just had the same problem with my Allure. Overnight the batteries would drop to 10 volt, with nothing on but the parasites. Lifeline replaced them under warranty and sent them right to my home. Once I got the old ones out, with a full float charge, I put a load meter on them and both were weak.

Assuming you have nothing running, your batteries may be shot. Mine were 15 months old.

A microprocessor battery trickly charger about $40.00 from Camping World will also do the trick. I leave my coach parked for many months and the house batteries are always fully charged while we are away.
