Slide Leak

Our 2003 Allure Newport has a leak in the passenger side slide. After we bring the slide in when it has been raining, and then put it out again we have a wet spot along with dirt/grim on the carpet behind the passenger seat. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a qualified RV Repair shop that understands Country Coach slides in Indio, CA. We will be at the original Outdoor Resorts Indio on Tuesday. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Our golf course site #50 at the Resort will be available for lease from 1/10/08 thru 4/10/08. One would have to take all three months. Call for details if interested.

Steve,

Not a CC owner [some day we hope], but can tell you that this is probably not a leak. After experiencing the same phenomenon on our current coach, I purchased one of those clear silicon water squeegees, attach it to my extension pole, and get as much water as possible off the side and bottom walls of the slide, then I have my wife retract the slide. Very little drips on to the carpet now. I also wax the walls every 6 months and spray a good coat of clear silicon on the rubber gaskets every 3 months.

Country Coaches "slide doctor" Tom Holland now works for Organ Motor Coach Service Center. He fixed my bed room slide very efficiently and at a modest cost. It was leaking also. Mine was a matter adjustment and changing a wiper seal. I caught the front slide that was starting to delaminate early on and Ben Barnes at CC fixed that and the leak behind the hifi cabinet.

If you are in Tucson, I can recommend Chris Snyder,520 665-1014. He is a former CC tech who now specializes in CC service. He was production manager at CC for several years and then dealer rep at Beaudry until Sep 2008. We are currently at Voyager RV Resort where there seems to be alot of older CC parked for the winter, I guess. Got his card from a CC neighbor. He came to our site and completed a list of things very efficiently, and quickly. Don't know how he is with leaks but he claims to know the older coaches like the back of his hand! Good luck!

Thank you all so much! We have an appointment to see Chris Snyder on Friday in Tucson to assess repair options for the leaking galley slide. He sounds very knowledgeable. He recommended Prince of Tucson RV park so looks like we'll stay there at least through the weekend. Really appreciate the help.

Odds are that is not a leak, just water from the slider side walls and top that didn't get squeeged off completely when the slide was brought in. Should clean up easily.

The kitchen slide seems to be leaking. I can see the drops of oil coming off the back of one of the cylinders which I believe directs the slide in or out. If I over run extend switch I can cause the leak.
My thought is to apply the pressure tape to the fittings. (TAPE rated to 750 psi) then refill resevior. I have two questions. First what other type oil can I put in, it seems I read power steering oil was the same thing just pink. Second, has anyone got a better idea.
Oh yes the one thing that I left at home, my manuals, so I have nothing to refer back on, stupid but I thought it my explain why the questions.

Thanks much

Jim, HWH used to use Dexron III ATF fluid prior to their current clear synthetic fuild. Also can't tell from your description if you have a Cylinder Leak or a Hydraulic Hose Connection Leak.
If its a Hydraulic Hose Connection you have to find one of their dealers who has the HWH Swaging Tool, or have someone run a complete new hose with different connections.
I suggest you go to HWH.com, Click on Customer Support & Technical Info, then click on Instruction Sheets & Info Bulletins, then click on Hydraulic Hose Info, on this page they also describe which fuilds you can mix with the current in system fluid.

They also have a page describing their cylinders.

I did find in our files the discription of the system. It seems to be the fitting on the hose, not the cyclinder. So I used my magic tape, which cut the leak down, and I think I can get home on just refilling the system with fuild. What looks like a quart is really just short of 50 to 100 drops, so I have cut my plans short and will lip home on a taped system, thank you very much for the come back.

Mine has HWH hydraulic fluid in mine, clear. I carry a quart with me that I purchased at Camping World

in Tucson many moons back. No leaks yet. Have used about a 1/2 a cup in 7 years. Don't jinx me.
