Door frozen

Door frozen
Is ice inside entry door a common problem? First the remote could lock but not unlock. Then unlock by key became difficult. Then door was iced shut. Finally door lock would not keep door shut. Now I have an electric heater running in step well & door seems fine. Local temperatures from 1 to 34 during last week in MO.
Maybe a run of heat tape inside door would prevent ice & corrosion?

I could see where you would have an ice problem if you have a door seal leaking warm air to the outside. Warm air leaking out against clod metal is going to cause condensation at the point of the leak around the door. That condensation will freeze in those kinds of temperatures. Also, the thermal transfer through the wall structure could also result in condensation on the frame freezing. Fixing the door seal may solve your problem.

I remember many business trips for this southern boy to the cold north when I was not able to get into my rental car because I or one of my associates locked the doors the night before. Rental car companies warned not to lock doors when there was ice, snow or freezing temps. I was always looking for someone with a Bic lighter.

Jim,

By ice inside door, I meant within the door structure. Did not see ice in coach on door except at bottom. Thought door latch, door lock, electric door lock actuator & such parts were collecting ice inside door.
I did not remove door parts before using space heater, so ice in door parts is just a guess.
