smell

For sometime now we have had a smell coming from our bathroom vanity cupboard. It only occurs about a half hour into a drive and then slowly disappears. (Not on every drive).I have done everything I can think of. Checked the roof vents. Checked the vent under the vanity. (I actually sealed it up in the end). Check the washer/dryer drains. Sealed up all the pipe entry points through the floor.
What else can it be?

Under the vanity is another pipe. (White with a number 23 hand written on it). It comes up through the floor, has a T joint with a breather cap on it and then disappears back through the floor. What's this pipe for and could it be the culprit?

I have found on numerous coaches, the no vent vent you speak of has pipe thread on it and it is screwed into a machine thread adapter , like for a sink trap. This will allow air to escape. which is "scented" air from the gray tank..... Unscrew this vent and look at the 2 threads and be sure they are the same. If this is the case you can get a female adapter at home depot and replace the wrong threads on the plumbing side. Be sure you use thread sealant on this as air will leak thru a smaller space than water. It also seems they never use thread sealant on these threads. They seem to think there is no water there so they will not leak.

Bruce,

When you are purchasing the adaptor, if needed, you may also want to replace the Automatic Plumbing Vent as they do tend to deteriorate over time. Should cost less than $5.00 for the do-it-yourself person. Then follow Mikees' suggestion below.
