Air Bags

After arriving in Rockport, Maine and settling in our site there was a sudden humongous explosion and everyone in the area came running.
My left front air bag had exploded - I can actually reach over the wheel and put my hand inside the ruptured bag. Coachnet says they can probably have it replaced on site. Does anyone out there have an opinion or advice - please? Many thanks.

Tom,
You may not believe this but I'm at Camden Hills RV Resort in Rockport. Across the road from me is an Intrigue that blew an airbag in May. He has two spares in his coach. Call me at 609-442-9929.

Hi Tom,

Where in Rockport Maine are you? I blew a right front air bag 3 months ago and I do have a spare with me. If it does not fit I know of a place you can get one. Call me 434-987-9240. Would love to help you out.

Concerning the air leak in the braded air hose coming off the compressor. 2 years ago I had the same problem. When the hose comes out of the compressor, it makes a 90% turn and heads toward the front of the coach. On my 99 Allure, the hydraulic tank has 2 metal uprights welded to the frame for support. When the hose makes it 90 turn, it rubs up against the metal supports. Over the years, the vibration finally wore through the metal brade and the rubber hose. You have to look close to see it. I put on a new hose and slipped a larger hose on that section that was touching the supports. Also put a water hose clamp at the point of contact as an additional buffer. Hope this is of help.

If you Air Dryer is plugged? Can you move the coach? Getting 110 psi sounds like its not a Air Dryer problem, The tech needs to crack air lines from the Tanks to the problem. Im a engine man not a brake tech. I would not mess around with this! Leave it to the pro's!Keep us posted, Ken 99 Allure 30356

Ken

Not the dryer, the check valve that feeds air back to the compressor could be plugged causing oil in the system. I just replaced my air dryer and had nothing but foul words for the designer that placed it in front of the rear axle, up between the frame members against the floor of the coach. Why not put it in the fuel filter compartment?......???????????????

Coach has no air in the bags, so I'm stuck unless we manually inflate them to get to a shop for repairs, which I'm not wild about. Will probably troubleshoot the controller inside the coach (I have the repair manual from HWH) If that checks out, then start unpluging air lines, which I'm not wild about either.
RV tech thinks it could be a problem with the HWH control pad, so I'll let him start there.

Thanks for Sharing, I all my life did most of my own work, But I paid to have our Dryer element changed, To old and a little fat. In my 20's no problem. Working at Cat I did engines and If I had a air comp. problem I just removed it and sent it to our Comp. shop for rebuild and just reinstalled back on the Engine. To bad like our other brand owners the element is a spin on and easy to get to. Ken 99 Allure 30356
