Dehumidifier? Anyone use one?

Yahoo Message Number: 14961
Just checking to see if anyone is using a dehumidifier in their CCs.
I have looked at Soleus Air 25 pt. ones on the 'net which seem to be a good size. We're in Oregon for 3 months and think we should use one while here in the cold/damp air. Ideas?

Jan:

I've been in Albany, Oregon since September and purchased a Maytag Dehumidifier from Home Depot to prevent the "rain forest." The unit I have is 40 pints and when I first started using it I was getting about two gallons per night, unbelievable. I have it on all the time and collect the largest amount of water at night.
It has sure made a difference in the condition of the interior by eliminating wet windows, closets, etc.
There are very few "small" dehumidifiers as I'm sure you will find out. I'm not familiar with the one you have identified. The Maytag at Home Depot was $189 and worth it.

Jan, We use a dehumidifier all the time. It's about the only way to keep from getting mildew, mold and other nasty stuff out of the coach. We bought ours at Sears. A 20 pint model (about $150). A bit of a nuisance in the coach but well worth the room it takes up. It stores nicely between our swivel chairs while underway and fits nicely in the aisle between the driver seat and passenger seat when parked. (We don't have front entry). Good Luck!

We use a Sears 30 pint unit that works great. It is unbelievable how much moisture we get when we are in OR and WA for 5 and 6 months at a stretch. We got our unit last year after we noticed black mildew and mold in some of the window tracks and corners of the slides. Having lived 30 years in AZ it was a strange thing to experience. Unit works great only disadvantage is size.
