CC Chassis

I see Country Coach motor homes from the mid 90's advertised as having Gillig chassis. In what year did Country Coach begin making its own chassis? Is this the same time that they became semi- monocoque?

I bought a 97 Intrigue in July of 96 and was given a choice between Gillig and Dynamax. I chose Gillig but after visiting the factory and seeing how the chassis were manufactured I could see there was little, if any, difference. Both were semi-monocoque and the Gillig chassis were cut apart, lengthened and than reassembled. Seems to me both chassis were using pretty much the same components i.e. brakes, rear ends, suspension, front end, steering, etc. Shortly after I took delivery in 96 the Gillig option was discontinued.

According to the techs at CC, there were actually some leftover Gillig chassis floating around the yard and being used until and including early model year 98 and this included some Magna's. The only way to really be sure its a Dynomax is to ook underneath or in the engine compartment and see that it's square tubular framing rather than the "C" shaped framing of the Gillig.
