Painting Vent Covers and Waxing coach

We'd like to add Maxair covers to our Fan-tastic vents. The big vents that work well with the fans only come in white. Has anyone succesfully painted these covers? Is it possible to get paint that matches the coach in spray cans or do I need to get a pro to do this?

Any suggestions on what wax to use on the coach? I've always used Meguiar's on my other RV's and cars but I'm open to suggestions.

Plastic can be a problem to paint. Or to get long term adhesion to. The first step is to clean them, if you can get some xylene or toluene. Use these solvents to wipe them.
I'd also take some 220 grit or 320 grit sandpaper and sand the plastic to give you better mechanical adhesion. Then wipe again with one of the solvents.
I would think there are several good aerosol paints available at your local automotive store, that would closely match the CC.

Surface prep is the key. Get it clean and roughed up and it will stick.

I can't help you with the paint project, but I'd like to add that when we had two such covers installed in December, I had them remove the MaxxAir decals from the covers then, since it's easier to remove 'em when the covers are new.

Meguiar's products are top-rated in any comparison test I read. However, they may not have a product suitable for use on bare gel-coat ... which may not apply to your coach.

Actually Meguiars has an entire section of the their website devoted to RV and Boat waxing that talks about their gelcoat products. I've used them on our fifth wheels that were all bare gelcoat with decals and they worked great. I was planning to use their auto paint products on the coach but thought I would check to see if anyone had any better recommnedations. Thanks for the tip on the Maxxair decals.

We wanted covers for Fantastic vents & purchased covers. The cover mount instructions were not compatible with our vents. We would have had to mount the covers to the roof, not per instructions supplied with vents.

With just one phone call, Fantastic sent us new fan controls, free, to reduce our need for add on covers. Fantastic is against any cover to be added.

You might want to consult fantastic.

Use Mequiars boat products, they are specifically designed for gel-coat finishes. Its the only way I could keep control of my 98 Allure finish. TWI 98 Allure 30255, its now living in Michigan.

We know what Fantastic's view is on vent covers. What they don't understand is when you spend November in WA or OR the fans are pretty useless without covers as the rain switch constantly shuts the fans off. They rarely dry out enough to stay open. We've used the Maxair covers designed for Fantastic fans on all of our RV's for the last 8 years and never had a problem with the fan. Of course, all of our other RV's where fifth wheels with white gelcoat finish and white A/C covers on the roof.
