Hi, we use a Garmin Street Pilot 111 and like it very much. Garmin is a very good company with excellent customer service. We have had Carin in dash in our 2001 coach with 7 discs. Very expensive to upgrade to new discs. Then we had Pioneer in dash with one disc on a 2004. Much better in that we always had the info on the GPS without changing discs but the navigation of a 40' motorhome down residential streets (on occasion) was a challenge with either of these systems.
The part that was the hardest with both of these in dash units was the fact it took them a long time to recalculate when you got off route. Sometimes it would tell us to maake a u-turn for miles and mile and miles. This was very annoying. The Garmin recalculates very quickly to get a new route (like iif the street is closed or there is an accident etc). Anyway, all in all, considering the fact that the in-dash coast $5000 each time we purchased it (it was already installed on the 2001 and we added the Pioneer after delivery)it was not worth the money IMHO. We like the garmin much better and we can move it to the toad. It only cost $800 instead ot $3K to $5K. Each person picks what they want for their own special needs....but why spend more money on a product that can only be used in the MH and that costs so much to upgrade the software? Hope these comments will help anyone who is considering purchasing a GPS. Thanks, Randy Goodman
