Going under the coach

How many of you are willing to crawl under your coach when the air bags are inflated? I can't get under ours when the air has been dumped and I don't trust the leveling system to crawl under when the coach is raised. I'm I just being paranoid? I wouldn't mind doing my own lube work if I could safely get under the coach.

Well, if the bags don't blow when your bouncing down the road, why would they blow when they're not subject to the added stress? I've been under the coach many times, after i've raised it. I wouldn't say paranoid, just concerned with your own safety.
P.S. check for two grease fitting on each of the U joints. Someone only greased one, ended up replacing the joint.

NOT AT ALL !!! i don't trust air systems. When we get a all air coach in the shop amd have to go under it we put either 20 ton jacks under the frame or put the coach up on "Prevost ramps".
Had a customer of ours watch a tech die after the tech crawled in the front wheel well to work on a air leak out at Indio acouple of years ago.! I DON'T TRUST AIR SYTEMS . Mistakes are to likely to be permenant.

At Lazy Days Chassis shop, they have built a kluge using very heavy boards attached together so that you can drive the back wheels upon these boards giving needed clearance to safely crawl under the coach.

I just saw those and assumed that what they were for.

Curious how the tag axles responds to this, unless they raise them first.

I am thinking of putting a shallow pit in our new barn floor, maybe 24" or so.

Although the chance of something happening is remote, the potential consequence (being crushed) is fatal ... and a horrible way to die. It's not like you might "only" cut off a finger on a table saw if you don't use the blade guard or a push stick. We're talking about your life.
When a mobile repair guy had to go under our coach last year to re-connect our rear height control valve, he had me drive up onto some solid boards as a failsafe. Great idea.

By the way ... I always surmised that a pilot's last words before crashing into the ground were "Oh, sh*t." An aircraft crash investigator eventually told me I was right.
