Mail Forwarding Service

Yahoo Message Number: 714
We are not "Full-Timers", but we have been spending quite a bit of time on the road. The good'ole Postal Service gets a little testy with repeated long mail hold orders. Therefore, we are looking at mail forwarding services such as FMCA, Escapees, and others. What do folks with more experience think about such services? What are the best? How do they work? Any other advice would also be appreciated.

Dear Oke Shannon:

We are not full timers but have been using FMCA Remailing Service for about nine years, and even when we are home we just continue, this way we can always be assured of getting our bills and other mail. Our mail is sent to us on Tuesdays and we receive it each Thursday or Friday, wherever we ask them to send it. We would certainly recommend FMCA.

Bob & Boo,

We are FMCA members, but have not yet used any of the services they offer. I am downloading the FMCA mail form to compare that to Escapees. Thanx for the input.

Hi all:

I too was in Junction City last week for service on about 12 items that needed to be taken care off. Not only did the service department take care of the items I had listed they found one other thing that I did not know about. The inner oil seal on the driver side front wheel was leaking unbeknowns to me and that could really have been a problem on a long trip. Anyhow service made an appointment for me at Kaiser Alignment in Eugene and they took care of it. Fortunately there was no damage to the bearings as it still had some oil in it. Anyway all the problems were fixed in less then 3 days and I was on my way home by 3 PM.
Not only that I have a 2000 Magna that was delivered at the end of April 2000. Due to illness in the family I was not able to get service done before the end of my warranty period so I called service explained the situation gave them the list and was told that they would take care of everything when I can get there.

A happy customer

CUMMINS 350 ISC LEAKS. I have had fuel leaks from around the accumulator/pump area on my 1999 Magna at least 5 times since owning. Has anyone else been having these problems?

Has anyone used the Cummins Mid-States in Normal, IL for service? We just need the oil changed and other service interval stuff done. We live in the St. Louis area.

Thanks

Just a note to pass along what I think is a good service company.I had a electrical problem with my inverter while in Florida, contacted CC and they referrred me to Eagels Pride in Titusville. They were booked for a month but I spoke to the owner, Mike and he was able to squeeze me in in two days. Fixed the problem, the entire staff was extremely friendly and I got the problem solved and was on the way. It is nice to find that there are service companies that realy do go out of there way to help stranded travelers. If your in the area and need help, I would highly recommend you stop and see them, they are listed in most travel books.

Hi:

Have any of you had service on your coach at the Country Coach Showcase in Roseville, CA? If so, what do you think about the facility and technicians? Has the work been satisfactory?

Bob,

Yes we have had our coach service there twice. In comparison to the Lodi service center for RV's and R Mechanic in Livermore they are a dream come true. What makes it nice is they are and extension of Country Coach so there is not problem with warranty or extended warranty coverage. Their work is above average as far as we are concerned. Coaches are also valued and kept inside and clean when returned. Both the previous locations cannot say this.

Best Service we have found at a dealer so far. We have had repairs
done there twice this year and were very satisfied. The last repair was unscheduled and they took care of us right away. Very pleasant to deal with.

Speaking of service facilities, I am at Desert West in Phoenix, and recommend Jon Batha here if you have problems, especially inverters which are his specialty. He has been rebuilding them for 10 years, been repairing RV's for 25. Nice people, even if this is not the best area of Phoenix. I will have spent about a week here and it is tolerable ( the area...) but I will be honest-- not clean or fancy so you are not going to pay for overhead. They are also a Prevost repair shop as well so they have some experienced techs here. They do a lot of Country Coaches as well as Foretravels and other SOB's. Jon has been very impressive- I must say. They are also very efficient. I see coaches in and out of here and everyone has nothing but good comments about this shop.

Jon found a malfunctioning relay and saved me from replacing an inverter... a very expensive job THAT would have been!!

They are also doing some other repairs. Had some air leaks and a coolant leak and changing the door switch on the electric steps that had mind of their own as I was driving. Got some funny looks with that one.

fun fun fun...

Also I have had a brief encounter with Sacramento and they are nice folks- VERY clean facility and seem to be very good techs. I would go back there again.

P.S. RE: Desert West Coach. They strongly suggest you CALL and set up an appointment with them as they are very busy. They will try to squeeze you in if there is an emergency. This is not a mega shop, so space is at a premium and so are the techs, especially during busy winter season. Their number is 800-491-8834.

Hi Gary,

Interesting feedback. We had our coach serviced, oil changed etc. by R Mechanic because they are only 2 miles away and Garantee had closed shop.

Found R Mechanic very helpful and they tansferred me over to Petersen in San Leandro for some warantee work which they could have charged me for. However we also checked out Country Coach Showcase at Roseville on a Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago and found them very helpful and thorough. Will probably try them at next service or for warantee work despite being over 80 miles away.

Hello everyone.

You might try Central Valley RV repair, Inc. They don't sell coaches they only service them. So you can under stand that they must do a good job if you know what I mean.

They are in Lodi, Ca. and can be reached at 209-334-3106 ask for Mindi

Keep them in mind, they do all waranty work on any type of coach and do take all the extended warranty companies.

Jerry, that is a GREAT link to Country Coach's new parts catalog. I have just added these links to the LINKS section of this forum:

* Country Coach Parts Catalog USER GUIDE * Country Coach Parts Manual

* Country Coach Vendor Part Number Search * Country Coach Master Parts Catalog

Very nicely done. You can even search by coach number for all the parts on your coach!!!!

Every CC owner should go to the forum website and check these links out.

Now THIS is really a big help. Unfortunately it doesn't address the problem of complete lack of availability of Country Coach unique parts (like a bay door) and it says so on the webpage.

Again this is a REALLY big help for stuff that is generic and available from other vendors. Any idea what they plan to do for the CCI unique parts?

I am looking to buy a motorhome for retirement (in about 5 years). Want to purchase now and really start traving heavy after retirement. If I buy a used 2001, 02 or 03 will I be able to get parts and service now that CC is no longer built? The coaches look much better than some of the newer units and most have very few miles for a diesel will they last for 15 to 20 years? Any advice would be helpfull.

Having owned 5 COUNTRY COACH MOTOR HOMES, SINCE 1987, I HAVE A 1992 CC PREVOST PURCHASED IN 1994. IT HAS A 2 MILLION MILE CHASES AND I HAVE REMOLDED THE INTERIOR 3 TIMES.IT IS MY LAST MOTORHOME.
THERE OR HUNDREDS FOR SALE LESS THAN 300 GRAND, WITH OR WITHOUT SLIDES.
IF THIS WILL BE YOUR LAST, PREVOST HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS OVER 100 YEARS, OWNED BY VOLVO, CAN BE SERVICED NATION WIDE, AND WILL HOLD ITS VALUE BETTER THAN DEFUNCT MOTORHOME COMPANIES YOU MAY BE LOOKING AT.
OVER THE YEARS I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF FOLKS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY NUMEROUS RV DEALERS AND HOPE YOU WILL NOT BE ONE OF THEM.
HAPPY HUNTING.

There is nothing in a motorhome that can't be fixed. The only differnce between a CC and many other motorhomes is the extra effort you "may" have to go to to get some panel work done. Otherwise everything is made by some-one else.
We like the look of the older CC coaches. We like the white/light colours. (Had a black bus conversion. Never again). A well looked after coach will be capable of serving well for many many years.

We just went thru this, and ended up with a 04 40' Tag, 2 slide Allure High Cascade.
Suggest you do your Must Have and Would Like to have list, on what is important to you. Then start your search. You should have no problem over the next 20 years, getting service on the unit. I suspect Oregon Coach will provide all the parts needed, that may be special to CC. These era coaches were made to last, with normal upkeep required.

Good luck,
Smitty

Monday we dropped our coach off at Fountain RV for some needed repairs.
Slide leaks, leverlers inop on automatic, dash a/c not blowing cold, and as luck would have it, as we where getting off I75 the ABS light came on. Butch also said he could remove the front 3M film for 1/2 of what I have heard others quoted. I will keep the board posted as to how the repairs turned out. Butch seems to have a great reputation and there where a number of CCs in his yard.
