Don,

COSTCO online sells a color system from Rear View Safety Inc, I just purchased one, checked it out and it appears that it will be much better than my original. I have yet to install it on the back of the motorhome, I tested it by connecting power to camera and monitor to confirm that they are functional before starting the hard work.

Ray,

I am considering this same system to replace my current (original) 5" B & W Intec. The low $64 price is very attractive.
Some of the online product reviews indicated, "..the 3.5" color monitor is too small..", " installation instructions are inadequate..", "..120 degree not enough wide angle..", "15" wire too short" and a few other minor deficiencies. But all agreed that the price tag, picture quality and night vision is great. Would a wireless camera be easier? Are there any drawbacks to going wireless other than cost? Are you going to install in the existing camera location? Are you planning to use existing wires?
I am interested to hear about your opinions after you install and test.

I installed a wireless 7 inch color camera I bought at Sams for approximately $ioo.oo. It has been great. The only negative is that the monitor is too large to fit into the space of a removed b&w unit and thus has to sit on the dash.

Fritz,

Thanks for your info. I just took a look at the Sam's Club online. Wow? You got a heck of a deal! They are now advertising a Clover 7" wireless @ $242.72.
BTW, some are saying that they are getting interference on other electronics from the camera's RF signal. Have you experienced any problems like that? Daron

Daron,

Fred Koval is the expert on installing the camera. I am still trying to figure out where to mount and best way to interface the camera. I didn't buy the $64 one, instead I purchased the 7 inch LCD color display with associated camera, more like $200 and I can add side view cameras, if I chose for $100 for a pair. I think the rear camera I purchased has 130 degree angle and the side cameras have 120. For $200 the LCD monitor, the camera and cabling with a remote control device is included. I plan to cut off the cable connectors and use those to splice into existing wiring, it's been way too hot here recently to spend the time doing this. I hope to get it done before I am on the road again this fall. I will let you know how it goes. I plan to install the camera just above the existing camera housing and leave the old one intact where it sits. At least that is my current thinking, if I get ambitious I will figure out how to remove the old one and install the new one over that opening but that will take more work.

Daron,

This is a description of the system for RV, I think you were looking at the one for automobile application which might work but not sure.

I just liston to the old am/fm radio, while on the road, so I am not a good authority on the inference question.

Sounds like a good choice! Just wondering does the Camera have sound? The Prev. owner of our 99 Allure bought a 1600 dollar Voyager back in 05 or 06 at Camping World. They did a horrable install! Wont go there but works great! I like the sound feature also I bought a Baby Monitor for the Toad Saturn Vue so I can hear the Brake system operate and other noises. Also Testing the new Tire Minder I bought at Camping World. Like the Battery replacment feature. I know Pressure Pro is the Best as Most of My RV Friends with SOB'S use them. Lots of my friends sell RV Products at Rallys. Thanks for sharing. Ken 99 ASllure 30356
