Remote Door Lock

Yahoo Message Number: 16114
We have a 2004 CC Inspire with a remote door lock/key fob for the entry door. The thing

has never worked properly - neither opening nor closing. We have to push and push and

push the button to get it to open or close. Manually, everything works fine, it's just the

remote operation that doesn't work. Is this a problem experienced by others or unique to
me?
Thanks!

Have you tried a new battery in the remote? One of ours did not work well until we replaced the battery.

I'm not sure how you can do it "manually". As far as I know, I have to use the remote to set the alarm which locks the door too. As far as I know, I can lock the door manually with the key only. I had the same problem you have with the remote on my 2003 Allure. Chased wires and finally found broken wire where they go from the door into the MH. They were not noticable with the naked eye. Found it with an ohm meter. After I replaced the wires, everything works fine. Good luck.

When you say the remote "doesn't work".... does your alarm beep at you and the red light beside the door blink when you push the button? If not, you have a problem in your key fob transmitter ... probably needs battery, or in the receiver somewhere inside the coach wherever it is located.

If the system beeps and light blinks, do you hear the lock solenoids trying to operate the locks? If so, your fob transmitter is ok and then your problem is probably in the adjustment of both lock mechanisms. If not, the problem may then be in your receiver in the coach or in the wiring to the lock solenoids.
I had a pinched wire which was visible in the door jam with the door open. Wiring was replaced under warranty.
I have also had a problem with the deadbolt lock not wanting to UNLOCK occasionally. I've noticed that the deadbolt solenoid moves a fraction of a second or two AFTER the main lock solenoid. If I have my hand on the door handle when I push the remote fob and I pull on the handle as soon as I hear the beep, I will sometimes cause the deadbolt to hangup because I'm pulling on the door as it is trying to unlock. This requires me to either push the door back in to full latch and go through a remote lock/unlock cycle, or to use my key to manually open the deadbolt.

Hope this helps,
Joe

Matt,

Try checking the battery on the key bob. Use a small screw driver (eye glass type) to remove part of the casing, it contains a standard watch battery. At least our Magna key bob does.
