Coach on Ferry

Yahoo Message Number: 17892
We are considering taking tne ferry from Keystone, WA to Port Townsend. We have a 2000 40' Intrigue. Has anyone used this ferry and were there any problems? I'm mostly concerned about hurting the oil pan on the coach as I have been told by some CC owners that it could be a problem getting on and off a ferry. Any experience anyone has had would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Mac

Took a previous RV on this ferry with no problem. We did not have the low clearance problem with that coach, though.

We have not done that specific ferry but any of the ferries can be difficult at low tide or high tide. If you can check a tide schedule and try to get a ferry during the mid-tide you should be no problem.
I've had occasions on the Kingston ferry where our previous fifth wheel scraped and it was lifted to fit over a Ford 550. Here is the website for the run and it lists the tide cancellations for specific days - http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/schedules/current/index.cfm? route=pt-key

We have not had the motorhome on that specific ferry either, but agree that it shouldn't be a problem unless the the tides are extremely low or high. We ride the ferries at least a couple of times a week, and the apron from the dock to the boat lays pretty flat, except at extreme tides.

On a side note, if you're going to be staying in Port Townsend, we highly recommend the Point Hudson Marina and RV Park.
Have stayed there a number of times this summer. Right on the water, walking distance to town and farmers market. Actually had the pleasure of meeting fellow CC Intrigue owners, Ron & Diana Gates there last week!
