Fixing inside dual valve stem alignment

A suggestion for those trying to fix the alignment of their inside dual valve stems...

When I purchased my Centramatics, they came with a small tool used for aligning the valve stems. If you are having trouble using a "direct push-on" style pressure checking tool, you can use this same technique for aligning your inside dual valve stems to make them easy to check.

The Centramatics come with a 8" length of small diameter tubing (or some would call it pipe). The pipe is slipped over the valve stem and used to gently bend the valve stem into perfect position. Note that the valve stem used now-a-days is NOT steel, but is made from brass (so it doesn't rust). The brass is soft enough that it can be easily bent with the tool without breaking.

This "tip" may help those of you who do not want to use valve stem extenders, but use a direct connect tool to check the tire pressure from the existing stem. In evaluations done by the RV Safety Foundation, even the steel braided valve extensions have failed because the vibration from a tire spinning at high speed and bouncing through potholes is is sufficient to cause rubbing and failure, whereas the air lines used for braking and such are relatively stable and not subjected to this severe source of vibration. We each make our own safety choices and the RV Safety Foundation provides excellent information to help us each make good choices.
