Places to Stay Overnight

My husband and I will be picking up our "new to us" 2002 Intrigue in Texas in two weeks. We are looking for suggested routes and places to stop overnight on our way home (Sacramento-area). We will pick up the motorhome in Bonham, TX and make a stop-over in Colorado Springs for a couple of days before heading to Sacramento. We will not have a tow vehicle with us, so wherever we go, it's in the coach or on foot. Any suggestions on places to stay or eat, places to steer away from, etc.? At present we are thinking about heading west from Bonham to Amarillo and then north to Colorado Springs on 25. From Colorado Springs, we are thinking of going north on 25 to Cheyenne and heading west on 80.
