Satellite Dishes - Brands, Experiences, ...

Would like feedback about experiences with types and brands of stationary (semi-)automatic satellite roof antennas.

- Winegard crank up with DigitalMagic - Winegard stationary automatic
- KingDome
- Datron 3000
- others?

Enclosed or not enclosed?

Also CC Allure prewiring: Found behind panel to right of TV: a coax and 15-24(?) conductor cable. I presume both go to roof below the decal. Receiver needs to have RF remote (which I happen to have) to feed through cabinet doors -- unless someone has another solution.
Is there a good 12V supply up there for operating the dish?
Also, with a couple of A/B switches, I was thinking of converting the park cable feed wire from the back of the coach to a dual purpose cable/satellite feed in case I need to use a dish on a tripod. Any other ideas?

I have the TracStar (http://www.tracstar.net) SV260 on my '02 Intrigue. This system was actually installed at the factory, which I believe is kinda rare. It wasn't cheap at about $2,200 priced through the dealer. However, I've heard that it is one of better units out there. So far, nothing but praise for it. It seeks and locks very quickly while stationary or in motion. Even when obstructed (bridges, overpasses, etc.), it never loses it's track, just a 1-2 second screen freeze. I've seen other units overreact when obstructed, and then go into a search mode similiar to when you first power it up. Also, it's so quiet you never know if it's on or off. Works with Dish or DirecTV, and installation doesn't appear too difficult, if you want to handle it yourself.

Herb, run the coax from the park feed to the VHF ant. in on the sat. rcvr and a coax from the sat. rcvr TV out to the aux in on the switch box. The sat. rcvr can switch the park feed in or out.
The choice of sat. ant. is a pocket book issue as far as I can tell.
I've had a portable, a crank up and now have a TracStar fully automatic. They all did the job, just some are more convenient. jerry in NM.
