Qustions about 05-06 coaches

Yahoo Message Number: 18552
Hi All,

We have an 05 Affinity and we have been having some difficulties with the Audio-Video on the rear TV. When we have the TV on cable the following happens. The lower number channels have a good picture. But the higher we go the more the picture degrades with snow and the color fades terribly. Up in the 30's 40's, 50's, 60's channels #'s we can hardly see the picture.
Next we are having a problem with our water pump burning out. We have had 7 water pumps in 17 months. Has anyone had a pronblem similar?
We have electic awnings on this coach and on several occasions the awnings have extended out into traffic while driving. They have also extending while trying to park with the motor still running. Have any of you had this happen?
Last but certainly not least we have lots of noise from the X slide (galley on the passenger side) when extending and retracting. The other thing is that there is a lot of noise, rattling and clanking from this slide when traveling down the road. Anyone else experincing this?

Thanks in advance for any and all input,

Dale & Candace Hollick

Dale,

Having the same problem with our x-slide. According to warranty department at CC there is a problem with the mechanism being loose. We have requested on several occasions to have them send us the new bushings and we would install them, but have been unsuccessfully.

One thing an electric motor can not live with is low voltage. If for some reason, it is not receiving 12V, it will run hot. You will have to measure the voltage at the pump when it is running. I hope this helps.

TV, sounds to me like a bad splitter or switcher. But it could be that bend was in advertantly put in the cable and caused the insulator between the shield and the center conducter to collapse partially. Of course it could just be a oxidized connection. The window blinds reminds me of RF interference getting in the control circuit, maybe shielding the controller to ground.? I asked Chris Snyder about the problem and he was able to slow mine down to an ocassional tink on severe roads and sharp corners. TOM Insall space # 16.

Dale,

We had our electric awnings go out once because we left the power on when we pulled out of the campground. The controler rocked against the wall and activated the awnings. The power switch must be off when traveling.
I have also nopticed that if you do not turn off the water bypass switch outside in the plumbing bay the water pump will run all the time and that could burn up the pump when attached to Campground water.
We do not have a passenger slide but I do 2 things that I think help the slides work better. I never put the large slides in or out without the engine running and I always run the slide in and hold the retract button for about 5 extra seconds to make sure the slide is in place. The slides work great on our 05 Mag.

Can't help on the TV.

Three good points ... although I don't quite get the bypass valve one.

We never leave our pump on even when boondocking for this reason.
Left our Dutch Star pump on for a month once with no water ... still worked, but scared me big time.

I thought turning off the awning power switch killed power to all the awnings. I hope this is the case, especally since we have remote controls for all of them, imagine the problems there with RF interference. I will have to check this out sometime.

Holding the slide switch in for a while against the pressure relief valve is vital. The equalizing cylinder has a small bleed hole in the piston to allow a small amount of oil to leak past under high pressure and equalize the volume both sides of the piston.
Eventually each end of the cyl could contain diffent amounts of oil, causing an uneven(unsyncronized)motion. This would cause big problems eventually. Check your manual.

Thank you to all who answered our email. CC has gotten to the bottom of most of the issues. There was a bad splitter that was compromising the picture on the rear TV. HWH is working to fix the X slide. The water pump burning out is still a mystery as to why this is happening. We appreciate everyone who took the time to answer.
