A&E Awning problem

Recently our Oasis automatic door awning stopped working. It would neither go out or in. I had it removed by a service company and was told that the planetary gear had stripped. Also the plastic housing was cracked. All other parts were fine. He called A&E and was told that they would not sell him the planetary gear. They would only sell the entire operating mechanism. For a price of over $500. Of course the warrenty has expired. It is an O4 model. This problem should have never occurred. The gear was apparently wallowed out due to the excessive torque of the motor. I plan to write A&E and ask for some relief on this, but after talking to them on the phone I am sure it will be futile. I suspect we will try another brand of awning if we buy another coach,
