Cummins 330ISC engine shutdown

First of all--Thanks for this site!!!!

During the Christmas holidays ww took a trip to Georgia and North Carolina. On the way back our Allure's Engine began to shut down.
After we got it to a shop it was diagnosed as the oil pressure sensor being bad. While there, the shop foreman told me that it was quite common for this to happen on the Cummins engine. Anyone else had this problem?

How many miles did you have on the engine?
I have an ISC 330 with 20,000 miles and have not had the problem you describe. In fact, I have had no engine problems. I have had a controller switch problem with the radiator, but outside of that, my engine has performed very well.

My engine has 37000 miles on it. The check engine and engine shut-down lights came on and immediately the engine shut down. We were west bound on I 40 just west of Nashville, TN. We coasted into a rest area and started the engine and ran fine into Nashville. The next day we drove south on I 24 and it did it again. We finally got into a mall parking lot after it had shut down about 6 times. This was on Sunday before New Years but on Monday we fainally got to a Freightliner shop and got the oil pressure sensor replaced. As I had mentioned earlier, the shop foreman said that it was a common occurance in the Cummins engine. I talked with Cummins and they told me that I should not have anymore problems. Now who to believe? Maybe this forum will be able, through other owners experience, help ease our minds so that we don't have to worry about this problem

My engine shut down just as we were pulling onto a narrow repair area. The electronic accelerator control went out. By shutting off the engine and restarting things were ok until we tried to use the cruse control. As soon as we stepped on the brake the engine would go to idle and stay there. We found out that if we did not use the brake to come out of cruise control mode everything was OK. It ended up that the ckt board on the engine was torqued by the quick release of the accelerator. A new board and the engine runs just fine ever since. NEVER HAD ANY TROUBLE WITH THE OIL CONTROLS. 45K MILES NOW.
