Cummins 330 ISC engine shutdown

Yahoo Message Number: 1007
Hi all:

Last Feb. as I was approimatly 15 miles north of Junction City, moving at 55 mph, the engine just quit running. It restarted immediately and ran fine for about .5 mile, it again quit. Restarted and quit for a few miles at which time I pulled into a farmers barn yard. Called CC and we ran through diagonstic via cell phone, no luck. a tech. person was sent to the scene with lap top and found that the "low oil sensor" was showing low oil. All fluids were checked and were full. The sensor was bypassed and we drove to the factory where the sensor was replaced. I was advised that they had replaced several of these sensors on the 8.3, 330 hp ISC.

My coach is a 2000 Allure, 40 ft. I have not had any further problems with the sensor, only the replacement of the air compressor and block breather valve, both under warranty. The breather valve stopped about 90 to 95 percent of the oil blowby, some still exists, but only on long hard downhill Packbrake use. As info fuel milage is 8 mpg plus at 55 to 60 mph with cruise control.

sorry, I failed to show that the odometer showed about 3300 miles at time of failure.

I have a 350isc and would like to know where and how they bypassed the low oil sensor for possible future use if my engine stops due to this. I would like to be able to do the bypass myself on the road if necessary. I have had to learn much about the systems and do most of the fixes myself.

Hi:

The tech. used a laptop with program that he connected to the diagnostic plug under the dash, he was in contact with the plant via cell phone, they gave him permission to bypass the sensor. Unles you have a laptop with the proper program installed it would not be possible to override the sensor, this is my understanding. Your can check with CC or cummins to verify.
