entry-step problem

Has anybody ever had problem with the entry step! It seemed to be the control unit and I replaced it but the step still are not working! I than took the door switch out and am trying to test that with a volt meter for continuety ? Hope I am going about this the correct way!

I have had many issues with the step including just a few days ago. Check your owners manual. It has four electrical checks that are made at the step plug. It will tell you if you have power, step switch is working, door switch is working & ignition override is working. If all is well electrically, put main plug back together & you may have a mechanical problem. That is the steps may be stuck due to dirt. If they are stuck the motor is designed to stop(when you try to operate the step you should hear a motor click). Remove the step cover under coach. Remove the two linkage arms(one for lower step & one for upper step. Manually run upper & lower steps in & out.
Should be smooth. If not clean out step bearing with WD-40. Use a lot. This will clean the bearings in slides. Now operate step. If motor moves the unhooked linkage it is good. If not, motor is bad.
