Preventive maintenance tip

Yahoo Message Number: 19157
My Intrigue is 3 years old. As I crawled around under the engine compartment, I saw something that scared me. I saw antifreeze dripping from the bottom of my radiator and my first thought was that I have a cracked radiator like so many other CC owners have complained about. It turns out that my radiator is fine. As I searched for the source of the drip, I found that the drip was coming from a radiator hose that had a loose hose clamp. I checked all 8 clamps and 7 of them were a little loose. A few turns with a 3/8 inch socket wrench and they are all snug -- and NO more drips. Take 5 minutes to tighten 8 hose clamps on your coach and you'll eliminate this Halloween scare from your future.

Your point is well taken. There are however, many of those nasty hose clamps that are hard if not imposible to access. When I picked up my coach (20k miles, 1 year old) there was antifreeze dripping from the middle of the coach. Upon investigation, it was comming from the "T" fitting between the main rails over the fresh water tank. Not easy to find much less fix. The "T" was the junction in the heater up front line that feeds the loop in the hot water heater.
Several days work and a rerouting of the line so that the junction was located in the area above a removable ceiling section of an accessable compartment.

Any one with Hydrohot (sp) heating system has many more hose clamps than we do. Funny how they never seem tight after time passes.
Preventive maintenance is smart.
