I didn't plan on getting it either, but then we purchased a used coach that already had it installed. Like it a lot but do think the MSRP option cost rather high.

When looking at a new 2002 I noticed that the unit is now enclosed with a insulation cover and am thinking of adding this to ours.

I assume your new Allure already has the insulation.

I would also like to know. We have a 36' 2001 Evening Star with a Hurricane that have given us nothing but problems. If anyone is intrested in hearing what the problems have been let me know.

Hi All,

My wife and I met a couple, a few months back, with a Hurricane heater in a New Beaver. They also had complaints about the noise and got an insulation kit for the Hurricane from Rixen Enterprise (Hurricane Manufacture). They said this helps a great deal and costs around $150.00 dollars. They also added a thick lead/foam insulation to the sides and top of the compartment, which cut down most of the remaining noise. From what I saw, the insulation looks similar to what I've seen in some of CC's generator compartments. Standing inside thier coach, the unit was much, much quieter then the furnace in our 91 CC. One rather curious fact though. CC uses a round exhaust that looks about 1 -1 1/8 inches in diameter. The beaver had a rectangular exhaust about 1 1/2 inches high by about 3 inches wide. The exhaust noise from the Beaver was extremly quiet verses the CC units I've heard. I'm puzzled as to why the differance in sound output.....any ideas?

Hi, Jack/Mary Lou.

I would like to hear what might go wrong and the solutions that you came up with. I've owned my 2002 Intrigue for 4 months and so far... no Hurricane problems. My last coach (1998 Intrigue) had LP heat.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Dick,

Current problem is that after running the furnace all night there was a puddle of anti-freeze under the coach raditator. This happen a few times and I could see it was coming from the top of the coach radiator. I called CC and they said a new expansion tank for the hurricane was needed as the old one was to small. They sent me a new tank that holds 6 gallons of anti-freeze and is supposed to fix the problem. They said it was a 2 hour job to replace it. After getting the new tank and taking measurements as where it has to go I find out there is no way it will fit so here we go back to the dealer again. When we originally picked up the coach the hurricane quit the 1st morning out in the New Mexico desert. After much fusssing with it when we finally got to some warm weather and working with Jim Rixen, the distributor for CC we found that the ignighter was getting grounded out by a little holding clip and it kept blowing fuses. Got that fixed and it kept blowing white smoke and not ignighting. It was going into alarm. Took it to the dealer and they fixed something. It is awful noisey and have heard there is a bunch of insulation that they add now so am going to call CC and talk to them. Hope this helps.
