Unknown noise

Our coach is parked outisde our home in Illinois. It is plugged into 20 amp power to keep the batteries charged until we leave after Christmas for the southwest. The last few days it has been down to 0 to -5 at night and only up to single digits during the days.

Last night when we went to bed we heard a noise outside like a intermittent knocking noise. When I went out to see what it was it was coming from the coach. When I went inside I traced it to the bedroom area and specifically the compartment behind the breaker box where the transfer switch is located. It was a very fast knocking sound. The electrical meter I have plugged into an outlet said the power was at 114. I went out and unplugged the coach and the noise stopped. My mechanical knowledge is very limited so I am at a loss as to the problem.

Any ideas as to the cause of the noise and how do I check to see if we have damaged anything, etc.

Mine did the same thing earlier this year. In that compartment, which is accessible through a handhole in the upper closet, I had a ShoreGuard, and the transfer switch. My ShoreGuard contacts were acting up, so I replaced that with a EMS switch, and also at the same time bought a new transfer switch from CC, as one of the leg contacts were slightly burned for some reason. You may or not have a ShoreGuard there, as it was an option on my 2000 Intrigue. I have never understood why the SG was FACTORY hard wired in, AFTER the transfer switch though... it would seem to me to be more beneficial/protective the other way around...
