strange problem

I noticed that while the generator is running if I start the cummins the transfer switch shuts off the power for a second or 2 and then it goes back on and is fine. What would starting the engine have to do with the transfer switch. It even does it if I am plugged into shore power and start the motor. The transfer switch is new and works fine.???
