Heads up for second owners of CC units.

If you have purchased a used CC please note the following.
We purchased used. Went to the factory and had some minor work done as we want our unit to be close to original delivery condition (or better).
I specifically asked CC whether there were any outstanding recall items on our coach and were advised none listed in the CC files, so we were happy.
Then we took the coach to Cummins Northwest to have the oil changed and it was during this service that the Northwest people ran the engine serial numbers and told us about the air compressor recall. As you can imagine I was a little miffed with CC as we might well have missed this recall and had a serious problem later.
With hindsight I believe CC's response to my original question was related only to the house portion of the motor coach. If this is correct I must assume that Cummins sent out the recall notice pertaining to the compressor.
For whatever reason the recall work was not requested by the original owner. Maybe he didn't get the notice. The selling dealer did not check for recalls and we were ignorant of the issue until talking with Cummins.
So, if you purchased a used coach, be aware that some recalls may be out there that are not listed within the CC filing system.
This is where this group can be really effective, getting the word out to owners so that we can be better informed of the maintenance and service on our coaches, and why it really helps when owners list their coach type and serial number.

Happy travels, David

David. We have had several problems with CC not performing basic service checks, not fixing things that needed to be fixed, and not notifying giving us full information on products we purchased to add or replace on the '96 Magna we purchased the first week of Jan. We had the original owner bring the coach to CC in Junction City so we could have them thoroughly check it out before we purchased it. They had it two days and this is just some of the problems we had after they finished their inspection: (1) The main alternator belt had a 1 in. cut across it surface, (2) the engine air cleaner was filthy, (3) there was a leak at the main hose from the engine to the cooling system, and (4) the fuel filter settling tank was filthy with sediment. All of this was discovered by the people at Coburg Pacific Detroit Diesel when we took it to them for a problem that the service center at CC could not fix. Overall our experience with CC was poor and I will go out of my way to ever avoid doing any business with their service center in the future. Mark
