Who's Bright Idea at Country Coach was it to put 4 Holes in the Awning over Galley Slide on our 2001 Intrigue??? I assume they thought it would take the water weight off of the awning material. What it does is allow the water to drip through and accumulate next to the forward slide top corner angle, if we are perfectly level. Then the hydrostatic pressure forces the water under the slide seal. This is the 2nd time I've gotten soaked tarping off the slide, while our RV park neighbors in entry level Winnies and Fleetwoods enjoy my antics in trying to keep our "Luxury" coach dry inside. Has anybody else had the same 'Fun' in a driving rain of 1 inch + per hour down pour. We are in an LA Beach park (Dockweiler)?? LeeCasebeer

Sounds like you have zip dee awnings. There not as bad as A&E or carefrees. If you will pull the awnings all the way out over the windows there is enough of a angle that the water will run off instead of pooling. They (cc) tell me they put a crown on the slide rooms so the water will run off. Well when I had the A&E and carefrees taken off I had to go a week in Junction city without any awnings during a rainy week in October. And the water does not run off, as you say. I took a line and pulled it tight across the slide rooms at diffenet locations and there was no crown. Just like Chris Synder said (cc in tucson). John B. in tech service said there was. He knows better now. Someone in production was wrong. So plug up the holes make sure there are thirty turns on the awning spring and leave the awnings all the way out. Or buy you one of those tension straps you see people put on the middle of their patio awnings that screw into the ground and install over the middle of each awning so the water will run off. And be thankful you don't own a Marathon, where the owners have had to put tarps over their rooms to keep the water from comming in. Honest, I saw three of them have to do that in Florence, Oregon. TWI 2004 Intrigue with Zip Dee awnings #11731. I chnaged the a&e awning because it was a topper awning only and the Patio awning only comes straight out and does not shade the PS windows. The Carefrees on the DS had to have 4 sets of hold down straps, two sets of arms that were maid out of thin wall tubing, additional wall brackets added to hold the center of the three straps per awning. But what bothered me most was if the room was in you couldn't secure the awning or release it to put it out.

In addition as both carefree and A&E awnings were allowed to retract if there was any leaves twigs dirt etc on the awning it would roll up into the awning mechanism requiring to brush off the awnings every time, while with a zip dee the debris fall harmlessly to the ground. Plus the other brand awnings would force the water into the coach while the room retracted or else dump dirty water all over the side of the coach. zip dee is comming out with colored awnings to please the women plus some other new ideas. I just checked the new website isn't up yet.

We had problems with our slide leaking at the joint between the outside wall and the top. Supposedly fixed by dealer under warranty for previous owner, job was really poor. Got some of that industrial grade adhesive roof tape, scraped off all the poor quality calk the dealer used, sealed the joint with silicone, wiped flat and let dry and then put this tape over it.

Agree with the suggestion about pulling the awning all the way out.
Also, if we are parked in a heavy rain situation, I manually adjust the leveling to make that side a little lower, really makes the rain run off nicely with just a little out of level.
