Has anyone here converted their B&W backup system to color?

Yahoo Message Number: 20425
I find the black & white backup cam setup in my '98 Allure leaves a lot to be desired and I was thinking about converting it to a larger color setup. Has anyone here done this, what system did you use and how did you get around the problem of changing out the cable?

Thanks

Why would you have to change out the cable? Wires don't care whether they carry B&W or color information... I would assume that all you have to do is replace the camera and the display and you would be good to go. A bigger display might be nice, but may be difficult to put in the same place as the existing display. LCD would be more expensive, but probably easier to install.

If there was a real need to replace cable, I guess you could try attaching the new cable to the old one and pulling it through, but the odds are that there are fasteners, sharp angles and/or narrow passages which would prevent this. If I had to do this, I'd probably bring the cable down through the engine compartment and along the frame. Or perhaps look into a 'wireless' system.

I'm in the midst of having mine replaced. The techs from CC are going to do in a few days. If you have questions about switching, give Dale a call at Silverleaf and he will explain how to do it; Dale is very friendly and easy to work with. Silverleaf's number is: 541-967-8111.
