2001 Intrigue: Electrolysis on Slide frame.

I have electrolysis on my 2001 Intrigue galley slide frame. Would someone please describe the necessary repair, approximate cost and how can I approach CCI to "good will" repair it? Who should I be talking to?

Dave, I'm afraid your coach might be too old to get the good will repair job, but Doug Rutherford is the man to talk to. The job takes about ten days at the factory, although I learned at the Ft. Myers rally they are also doing the job in Florida.

We have the same problem with our 2005 Intrigue bedroom slide. It will be replace with new piece of aluminum, primed two or three times, reinstalled and painted.

I notice that you have a 2005 model Intrigue that is having the electrolysis problems. I can't believe Country Coach is still having these same issues after several years of poor design. This is just unacceptable from a coach that retails for $400,000. I had to have my living room and bedroom slide repaired at my cost of about $5,000 last year. Bill Plemmons RV in Winston-Salem, NC did the work and a very nice job, but CC would not cover any of the costs.

There appears to be no communication between design engineers at CC and the service side of their business. Many of these problems are well documented in Doug Rutherford's facility at CC. But, many times when you call there they will pretend that they have never heard of a problem that has been discussed many times on this board. One which comes to mind is that problem with cooling fans that ran at full speed all the time, thus creating the dust storm and also resulting in lower fuel mileage, the cooling fan puts a fairly significant load on the engine resulting in a loss of fuel economy.
Mine increased from 6.5 mpg to almost 8 mpg once that problem was fixed. CC didn't fix it though even after I visited the factory in 04. They replaced the fan controller which did not fix the problem.
A group of Cummins engineers working an engine smoke problem fixed the problem. I reported the fix to CC, they had no interest in the fix. The air cooling duct sensor was mounted at the bottom of the duct where it collects condensation causing the sensor to fail, sensor needs to be relocated to top of duct where collection of condensation will not cause the sensor to prematurely fail. This is a CC design not a vendor design. I think they have fixed this in later models but most of the models around 1998 to 2001 had this design.

Many of the problems reported here happen to a significant number of coaches which should result in a recall but CC refuses to do that on the electroylysis issue. Most 2000 models have these issues and it appears they still have failed to fix the problem with 05 owners reporting the problem still exists.

It would be nice if the CC cheerleaders would step up and have a group meeting with CC officials to try and get them to do the "right thing."

Dave, we, too, had electrolysis on our two slides on our 2001 Intrigue. Fortunately, they were repaired two years ago by CC at their expense. However, since then, we've developed the electrolysis on our front door, as have many others. This will be a repair at our expense according to CC. Doing research on the repairs, we've found that they don't seem to have the repairs down at this point to alleviate the problem, so we will drive with our "bubbles" until we find someone who can guarantee the solution to our satisfaction.

I'm disappointed to hear that the new rigs are also starting to develop this problem. It seems that we, as owners, should unite and form a protest to CC to ensure that they find a solution to this expensive problem.

I'd start a poll, but after doing one of them, the poll function here doesn't work well. Perhaps we just need to start a bunch of emails to CC from each of us who have had this problem. It doesn't appear that our individual complaints/repairs seem to catch their eyes. ("Never heard of the problem"...have you ever heard the service tech say those words? )

Good luck..let's keep some pressure on them.

Dave and Jan: We also had the entry door Electrolysis prob.
C.Coach provided a fiberglass skin sheet at NO charge and shipped it to me. CC suggested we contact Brashers Northwest Reconditioning Center in Eugene (541) 688-5422. I believe that RV repair shop Mgr's name was Andy (?). He previously was mgr of CC paint shop. They removed the old skin, glued on the new sheet. Then did a great job of matching our paint scheme. It was done Aug.2006 for $1000 and took 2 days. Andy reassured me his "fix" was guaranteed and to return"if" it recurred.

We met another CC owner that same week in Eugene who had side + damaged storage doors repaired the prior week at Brashers and also was happy with the outcome. Hope this is useful in your case.
