CB Channel

I heard conversation about a CB channel that CC owners might use to say hello to each other when passing on the road. Does anyone know if anything came of this?

I've heard there is a CB channel that is popular with RV owners whether for CC or others for chatting when on the road. Does anyone know which channel it is?

RV'ers all seem to want to go to CH 13 They are getting some decals made to put on your coach showing CH13 as the RVers channel.

This question has come up on several newsgroups I read. In the U.S., channels 13 and 14 were once designated channels for RV-ers. Depending on the geographic area you're traveling, you may have to switch from one to the other.

However, it became clear in the discussions I read that many RV-ers don't have their CBs on when they travel. I tried to warn several motorhome drivers of antennas that were left "up" and door steps that were left extended but have not gotten a response. Other drivers tune in to Channel 19, the so-called trucker channel, for the traffic news the truckers exchange.

Personally, I always listen to Channel 19 but would be glad to switch to another channel when a fellow RV-er called me for a quick chat in passing. I prefer 19 because of the traffic information, locations of Highway Patrol units and the possibility that a trucker may recognize a problem with my coach and call me to warn me. Surely, he would use 19 and not 13 or 14.

By the way, I wave "hello" when I see another coach approaching but fewer and fewer people wave back.
There seems to be a change in attitude, at least here in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic regions where I mostly drive. Of course, waving is of no importance but it always puts a smile on my face when I see a fellow RV-er who greets me back. It appears that the more large RVs we have on the roads the less courtesy we should expect and the fraternity of motorhome drivers is not as tight as it used to be, even just two years ago.

Kind regards,
Jeff

Unlike on a motorcycle or in my Corvette, it is very hard to see the driver's wave in a motorhome. By the time I see it I am already by the driver. So, in my case, the reason I do not wave is because if I can't see the other driver he probably does not see me in time either.

I must not have ever passed Jeff or George because I always wave to the RVs that I see.... even the Prevost! Also, I, too, stay on ch 19 but would jump to another channel for a quick hello.
I am not going to make the rally in Perry but maybe someone would like to bring the subject up and see if a neutral channel could be chosen. It would be unofficial but it would be better than trying to say hello on 19.
