Inspire electric trouble

Problem is switching power off with ignition switch often fails, engine continues to run, Allison control is still lit, monitor is partly powered. Or ignition switch kills system as it should, but next morning the idiot lites are on dimly, rear monitor power LED is on, Allison control is again lit and chassis battery is near dead. Lately we are using master switch near chassis battery to stop engine & avoid draining chassis battery.

How does the ignition switch power the engine, transmission, instruments, rear monitor & other items? Is it all done with one large relay? Schematics supplied with the coach do not include the parts that control 12 volt run power.

Do you have the ignition switch schematic?

Eric,

Sorry for your problems, sounds kinda serious. I checked and I dont have that schematic either.
I hope your talking to CC tech. Your chassis is still under warranty, and I bet they would over night you a new ignition switch or help you in some other way.
I think that CC really shines on helping out owners with problems like yours. Give them a chance. Good luck!

Could be a bad switch.

The cover over the instrument cluster can be removed by taking out the two button covers/screws on the top of the instrument panel, just push the cover towards the windshield and all is visible.
Our '05 Inspire uses a very simple ignition switch. You can probalby get a replacement from NAPA. It is so simple that anyone could hot wire the rig and steal it with ease!
If like me you have to drive a distance for service it might be worth replacing the switch (only three leads and they aren't usually very expensive) . If that doesn't do it the problem is deeper.
On my rig the three circuit numbers are on the wires right next to the wire lugs attached to the switch. You should be able to determine what they go to from the electrical diagrams that came with your coach.
