Transmission cooling update ...

I have not had this done yet to our 2005 Affinity, and have not gotten anything from CC saying I should. Have not checked our mail in FL for about two weeks either.

Just wondering who has had this done and whether it is necessary. Ran into someone at Fort Wilderness that said that Allison recomments it, but its seems I remember it being said on this forum that it was sort of optional.

Can someone educate me please ??? I can call my guy at LD and get his opinion, but I am always interested in the scoop here.

We had the new oil to oil cooler put on our Mag #6425 at Lazy Days several months ago. Our transmission now runs at 165 verses 218 without the new cooler. Have not had the coach in heavy traffic yet but I'm sure it will run cooler then 250 that we encountered this summer on the Atlanta beltway. I think the new cooler is worth the time required to install. Bill Stone is our service writer and he has done several at LD.

Hi John, We had the trani-cooler update done on our 05 Affinity last September at the factory. We were running in the high 200's and now my coach is running in the 185 to 195 consistently. Since this is an update recommended by CC, we felt it was necessary to do it. One, it is not good to have the trani overheat and two, it could hurt your resale on down the road if you do not do it. or maybe void your warranty on the transmission if it is in fact overheating. CC didn't, to my knowledge, send a recall, it is just being done on a case by case basis. So if your transmission is not overheating then there is no issue. Just my thoughts on the subject, hope this helps, Dale 05 affinity #6370
