Finding fuses

Yahoo Message Number: 21258
I have no dash lights and the outside roof lights aren't working. I'm hoping it is a fuse problem (or operator error), but can't figure out where the fuses are for those sets of lights. My books have only one fuse board listed doesn't cover those two areas.

Where are these fuses and how should I trouble shoot these issues

TIA

Our book has wiring diagrams in two locations. The big wiring section covers mostly house stuff. The back of the chassis section has the chassis wiring diagrams. Hopefully the chassis wiring diagram shows the dash and running lights diagram and you can trace the wiring to see if there is a fuse. These should all run through the headlight switch somehow and maybe some relay or something is messed up. I know I'm not helping much but this is the route I would take if I had the problem. Also, call CC Tech Support, they are usually pretty helpful and they work the weekend.

Hi Carol.

Your dash lights and clearance (roof) lights come off of your ignition switch. My coach is older than yours (1997), but last summer I lost my clearance and tail lights. The problem turned out to be a couple of bad contacts on the Headlight Switch.

Good luck,

Hopefully it is fuzes, but could be other problems as are mentioned in other replies.

My coach is close to yours, and I have found (12 volt) fuzes in the following places:
1) On the wall of the battery compartment. Don't have a clue what they are for.
2) Underneath the power control and guage panel in the center of the coach (next to the 120v breakers). These are for the 'house' circuits (lights, slides, steps, etc).
3) The frontmost compartment on the drivers side. Here is where the
chassis fuzes seem to be, and where I would check first.

See if you can find the fuze(s) for the things which are out, and check the fuze. I think there is a label, but if not, the manual should show which is which (although it sounds as if yours does not). If the fuze is good, check to see if the fuze has power at it (with the appropriate switches on). If it does, then check the bulb, and for power at the bulb. If not, check at the source of power, usually a switch.

Dash lights are usually controlled by the headlight switch. So are the roof lights, although they are also controlled by the 'smart wheel' I think.

Bulbs and fuzes are easy to replace, components such as switches and relays less so, and wires a major pain. Fortunately, they tend to break in proportion to their ease of repair...

I had difficulty locating fuse panel for the tail lights and brake lights in my '04 Allure. The electrical schematic diagrams did not show them. Finally found a write-up in the text part of the owner's manuals. It had a sketch of the fuse circuit board and it led me to the bay containing the engine air intake ABOVE the air intake, bolted to the "ceiling" of the bay, and virtually impossible to get to all the screws to remove the cover. Fortunately, one screw was missing, one was loose, and I could take the third one out. This made it possible for me to reach under the cover and pull/replace the fuses.

Don't know if your Inspire is the same or not.

Thanks to everyone who gave me information! It was a fuse. However, it wasn't marked as a fuse for dash lights or eyebrow lights. It is marked for the Smartwheel and is wire 61....just in case anyone else has similar problems. One thing Russ at CC told me was that his documentation shows a fuse at the base of the steering wheel column.
Couldn't find one in my motorhome. LOL
