Tucson campgrounds not Beaudry

Yahoo Message Number: 21566
Does anyone have a preference for parks in the Tucson area other than Beaudry?

I am considering staying elsewhere since the security situation appears to be deteriorating there.
Prince of Tucson and Voyager seem to have good reviews... anyone stay there?
Thanks,
Rosemary

Re: [Country-Coach-Owners] Tucson campgrounds not BeaudryI have heard that Voyager is quite pricey, but then the most of them are this time of year. Good luck,

Rosemary: Although we haven't personally stayed at the Voyager, I played golf with a fellow in Tucson last week who was staying there in a 5th wheel. He raved about the array of amenities, cleanliness, etc.

FWIW another source to help decide a cmpgrd is www.rvparkreviews.com.
As retired military we were able to stay at the AF base in Tucson.

Voyager is very nice. They have a lot of amenities, including (at least they used to have) miniature golf, a woodshop and a jewelry lab. Clean, quiet, friendly, decent resturant. The price is a bit steep, but when we were there we paid for one night and got one free.
I don't know what the deals on long term stays would be.

Thanks Don! I use rvparkreviews all the time, but sometimes it is incomplete or inadequate. I appreciate the helpful feedback from experienced CCer's. Thanks ever so much!

Hi Group:
This morning's Arizona Star (Tucson Newspaper) has a full page feature article on the expansion of the campsites at Catalina State Park (approximately 10 miles North of Tucson on Highway 87). Apparently there are 75 new sites in Campground B which is beside Campground A with 48 sites. The sites are at the base of Pusch Ridge and the scenery is magnificent. I live in SaddleBrooke, about 10 miles North of this State Park and can vouch for the sunrises and sunsets. The area is very rural with lots of wildlife, trails and picnic areas. On the other hand, it is within 1 1/2 miles of a Trader Joe's and Sprouts.
The only drawback? There is a close dump but all the sites are electric and water only. However, at $20 a night, one can be a bit inconvenienced! Entrance to the park is $6 per vehicle.

For more information on Catalina State Park, call 520 628 5798

Hi Rosemary,

My wife are full-time RVers. We've stayed at Tucson Meadows RV Park on the east side of the city for 2 years in our motor home. We like it pretty well. There are several amenities, but of course not as many as The Voyager. It's a lot cheaper, though.

Thanks! Will check it out and the Catalina state park mentioned in the previous post. (Really hate not having full hookups though it might be cool for a few days.) Is Tucson Meadows near a railroad?

Hi Rosemary,

Tucson Meadows RV Park is not near a railroad. It is a very quiet 55-plus park located on S. Pantano Road. You should find further information on their web site (http://tucsonmeadows.com/tucsonm.htm), if you're interested. There have been no burgleries that we are aware of in the 2 years we've camped here. A sentry is posted at the main entrance during the evening hours, and this gate is the only point of entry/exit.

Tucson Meadows RV Park is a very clean, well-maintained park offering convenient access to surrounding commercial establishments while the park itself is very private and secure. Most campers like it here. It was originally a mobile home park, the RV section being a recent addition offering full hook-ups and other amenities. You'll find the manager, Barbara Thompson, to be very friendly and helpful, should you wish to contact her.

Good luck in your search.

Hello Rosemary,

If you do not mind something a little "Rustic", We like to stay away from most of the BIG RIGS that seem to attract the Banditos. There is Desert Trails, southwest of Tucson off of HWY 86, on San Jacquain Road. Lots of cacti and lots of walking trails. Close to the National Park and Old Tucson and Gates Pass. And they are very easy on the Pocket Book at $125 per week..
Happy Trails

We have stayed their any number of times. Pericleze, a retired executive chef from England, the owner and his wife have always gone the extra mile to make our stay very pleasant. Most of the Snowbirds staying at the park are open, friendly, and willing to help. There are dances, games to play, dinners to enjoy, trails to explore, lots of great places to spend your time near the park or in town, hobbies to work on, and everyone seems to partake in the informal Happy Hour.
