Engine alternator whine

Yahoo Message Number: 1276
I have a 300 Cummins '93 Magna with a Leese-Neville 145 amp alternator. The noise suppressor on the alternator was tossed out by the installing mechanic when this rebuilt alternator replaced my original 160 amp. (He said it didn't work which it apparently did) A whine is now present through the radio in between stations which prevents seeking. The radios work fine when the engine is off. I have been unable to get a replacement suppressor from CC or Leese-Neville. Radio-Shack suppressors attached directly to the radio have been unsuccessful. Any ideas anyone??

Go to the link below, use there search function and type in ALTERNATOR NOISE.

http://www.crutchfield.com
It will bring up a Alternator noise filter they sell.
I used it on one of our other coaches alternators to stop noise on the radio. it worked really well, and it wasn't very expensive.
