Motor coach quality and reliability

Seriously. We need to remember that the motor coach business is back where automobiles were in about 1910. Also, with the far lower number of units being constructed the opportunity to include good mechanical improvements in a cost effective way is somewhat limited.
I totally agree that QC has a long way to go and make no excuses for this manufacturer or any others. Unfortunately they all seem to be about the same from what I read.
We should, however, take note of where the manufacturer has made changes to fix problems.
For example. You will have read that at least one CC owner recently mentioned cracking counter tops. Obviously this is a PITA. But, did you know CC increased the thickness of the countertops on recent vintage coaches.
Owners of Intrigues complain about the from door and screen. Both these items were substantially redesigned for 2002 , maybe for 2001.
The early bay doors on the Intrigue were not great and there were problems with their alignment and hydraulic arms. These too were improved for the 2001 and 2002 series.
I am sure there are many more items that were improved over the same time frame.
My point is that this manufacturer (like others) has made major moves toward fixing problems and in some cases I suspect the cost of the improvement found its way into the MSRP.
Does this make the owner of a "bad" coach feel better? No way, but maybe it puts a little perspective on the issue.
And now a personal note to Charles. I am sorry to hear you have experienced so much trouble with your coach. I can emphasize because we recently experienced problems of quality and mechanical issues on a brand new home that we didn't anticipate.
But my advise to you is this. Trade the coach for a competing brand and by all means use La Mesa in San Diego.
Chances are you will be happy with your new coach (which will include all the latest innovations and improvements) and you can move on with your life.
I say this because it is my conclusion based on your writings, that you will never be happy with the one you have now. I am not saying your comments are not justified, it is just time for you to make a switch.
