Bad Taste in Ice Cubes

Hi Jan,

I would go back to where you had that line replaced. I could be wrong, but I would say they did not use a factory replacement, or a line for potable water. The factory replacement also has a heat wrap.(giveaway if it is factory) That heat wrap is what I think causes the line failure. Be that as it may, the lines we have changed, we changed out to copper. No taste issues, no more cracked lines.

Fred, they put in the factory kit which includes the heat-taped line, so that should be the same as we had before. We had copper put in the 'lower line', so that shouldn't be an issue. Obviously there's something else that happened to the water line perhaps in the repair...shall check back with Cummins who did it and see what else could be the issue. The water we're using has no taste so it's not the water...only ice cubes..and they are awful tasting.

If by chance you did not run a substantial amount of water through the filter to the sink to flush the filter it is possible that the ice cubes caught the sediment left from the manufacturing process. If so, dump the ice now that the system is flushed and start again. Good luck.

Nope, Dave...tried that, too...still no luck after going through a week's worth of icecubes, throwing each batch out...thanks for the hint, though...someone may come up with an answer.

At this point I may try the vinegar route by adding vinegar to our fresh water supply tank, going on the water pump for a day to allow the ice maker to make a couple of batches via THAT water...(while we're away for the day)...and then go back on regular water source water to flush it out...hope THAT will work.

Can't think of why we're getting this taste...definitely a problem!
Thanks, for the help folks..keep the suggestions coming! ( I may call Dometic tomorrow and see if they've come up with this problem before...it's their kit that is installed.) Jan McNeill
