Propane Alarm Question

We purchased a 2006 Inspire in April. Each time we start the coach the propane alarm sounds. The odd thing is that the propane is shut off at the main tank.

Is this normal?

Has anyone else had this experience?

Is there something else we need to be doing to keep the alarm from sounding?

Hello

We have a 06' Inspire also and never heard the propane alarm go off.
My crazy guess is that the wires behind the alarm box might possibly be touching when the engine shakes the Rig at startup or strange power flux to the alarm to set it off.

My crazy guess is that starting the coach scares the poor pooch lying on that cool tile floor next to the propane alarm. Bad bad dog! I know that sounds like a corny joke, but I hear that it happens.

We had a similar problem a couple years ago. We have an Intrigue and the alarm is under the refer. Kept going off and we couldn't figure out why. Seems we had a small leak in the coolant coils in the refer. Had to have the coil replaced because the refer quit working. Haven't had the alarm go off since. Guess the alarm didn't like the smell of the coolant!

Darold,

Sounds as if there is a power interrupt in the propane wiring. Could be it is tied into the ignition switch.

Sorry about the 1/2 messages, My finger keeps finding the wrong keys. Anyhow. I learned that when my dog lays agains the alarm, ours is located just under the reefer. it goes off. Doesn/t happen often, but anytime he is waiting for the hall door to open and lies against the alarm.....after a few minutes he sets it off

Could be a problem with the alarm or the wiring. Could also be detecting something other than propane. Once I was sitting on the floor next to it working with the fuzes and 'passed gas'. The alarm went off. Another time, the dealer was cleaning a stain on the floor and the cleaning solution set it off. Perhaps starting the engine causes/increases a leak from the black tank?
