Prosine 3.0 Three stage charging question

I have a Prosine 3.0 three stage charging system and AGM batteries in an '03 Magna. We have been boondocking for just over a week and running the genset. The auto genstart is working fine and all seems normal except the charging has only been 2 stage,1) bulk 2)absorption and it has not go into float mode.I let the gen run for 5 hours the other day without much load hoping it would have enough time to really charge the batteries. Have any of you had this situation.I understand that you do not use the equalization mode with AGM batteries, so I guess that is not the problem. Any comments or suggestions from those of you who have BTDT will be appreciated.

I'm not sure about the float mode, but everything I have read said you should NEVER run your generator without a load.
Normally you do not want to charge your batteries up to the 100% level with the generator because the last few percent is a very slow charge rate and very inefficient.

-Thank you for your input.I always hate to start the generator without putting some load on it. Usually it is just the water heater, charger, microwave, and maybe one heat pump. That is not much of a load on a 12.5kw genset. I have been thinking about the practicality of buying a small Honda (1000 watt) genset and plug the power cord into that to handle small loads, which is the majority of our usage of the genset.I wonder if anyone is doing that, and if so, if it works out better than running the big genset for small loads.
