Chassis engine not charging hous batteries

Just got back from a short trip to the Gulf of Mexico and found out while down on the coast that my house batteries were not being charged by the chassis engine. I have a '99 36 ft. Allure. Yes, we had a few problems at the beginning, such as oil blow by-- got that fixed after two tries- and a few minor problems. Oh, this past December we lost the oil pressure sensor and had a complete engine shut-down. I guess we got a coach built before QC went south. I was afraid that this might happen after National bought CC--Just look at what National was accustomed to building-- low end units compared to high end units by CC. Before we bought our Allure we did test drive a Tradwinds--thought that it looked like a pretty neat unit-- let me tell you we could not get back to the dealer quick enough to get out of the unit. Now whenever we see one on the road we can't help but feel sorry for the poor owner.

Sorry about the rambling but we are very happy with our '99 Allure and have put over 40,000 miles on it with many being quick cross country trips.

On the charging problem- was told that it was something about an oil pressure sensor.

do you have a digital readout for the voltage from the engine alternator. I'm also having a battery charge problem but I believe it's inverter/charger related. From the engine I get 13.8 volts which seems less than the 14 to 14.5 I thought was needed to charge a battery- at least that's the thinking in marine applications.

Our friends with a 2000 Allure had a similair problem. They were told by CC phone techs, that it was either a defective oil pressure sensor that activates the charge solenoid or the charge solenoid.
In thier case it was the charge solenoid located in the coverd panel above the batteries. The area where the invertor is located. Thier solenoid was bolted to the rear left side of the compartment, and was replaced with a newer stle unit. This solved thier charging problem and they have had no further problems.

Egon,

I have a 2000 Allure that had the same problem. It was the selenoid behind a plate in the battery bay. Once that was replaced with a newer unit, I have had no more problems. Mine was done by CC techs at Perry, GA last year. Those guys were great.

Im having same problem on my 99 Magna. I was told it was either the solenoid (but they said mine was in electrical bay) or the pressure switch...to check solenoid first.

Re: your problem, the solenoid that is energized by the Oil Pressure sensor is not engaging and therefore your alternator is not charging your batteries as the engine is running. The CC vendor was from Mexico, they've now changed to a more expensive product, and it works.
