High Transmission Temps

After a long discussion about high transmission temperatures, we were waiting till after the Reunion to see if CC had any comments on the issue. Did anyone hear if it was addressed. Thanks Ned Herrmann 2006 Inspire 51677

From what we remember from the Allison seminar, they said the Silverleaf can read up to 250 briefly (about 15 min) and 300 from the dash.

From other discussions it was advised to put the tranny in neutral and rev the engine (if stuck in traffic). Another suggestion by an owner was to turn on the dash a.c. to get the fan going? Wish we could report more, but after so many seminars, they start to run together. It seemed that if your tranny ran over the above lotted temps (mentioned above), or didn't recover, then it was time to get it checked.

Just put mine to the test going up the Cajon grade (15N from San Diego to Barstow) today.

Outside temp by the time we hit Brastow was 109. Had the dash AC on the whole time and the trans never went beyond 210.

A short while ago I cam down the pass in "slightly" cooler weather, did not run the dash A/C and had a hard time keeping it below 230.

So, I have to say that running the dash AC does help although I'm trying to get a better, more automatic solution.

I might have missed some info but I always keep my rpm's between 1900 and 2100 to keep the pumps working to cool both engine but primarily the transmission. Transmission has never exceeded 210 traveling to the east coast from California in August. We have traveled the Cajon grade and the Grapevine many times with similar results.

During the high temp drive rpm's were always between 1800-2200.

With the A/C (dash) on it was staying down even up the grade at under 1500 rpm.
