07 Magna

Hello, I'm new to this forum but I'm anxious to read and learn from other folks posts.

On the 10th we take delivery of our 07 Magna 630 at the Factory. What I wondered was, other peoples comments about this process. Is there something I should Know? Did anyone use some type of checklist during the walk through? Any advise?

I made an appointment on the 17th back at the Factory in case we have any issues during the shakedown phase.

I pick up my new coach at the factory. First, be rested there is a lot to learn. I suggest you have the manuals handy, and take notes as well as have read the manuals ahead of time. It helps to have some quite time to get ready. Next I would stay in the coach overnight at the factor, and make sure you can push and use all the goodies. Secondly, your tech. who will be showing you the coach has had several shows just like the one you will be hearing, so if you don't like the pace then ask him or her to slow down.
During the afternoon, and that night keep good notes on questions that come up.

Get ready to enjoy, and have fun. These are complicated machines so some issue are bound to come up, don't let them spoil your day. Have fun and enjoy.

How about using a recorder - at a minimum tape the audio for the entire time the tech is showing you the coach and possibly even videotape the whole thing.

I might have seen your coach in final PDI Last Thursday! I spent 4 hours touring the factory and talking to the techs at nearly every station in the production of the Magna and Infinity models. I was quite impressed and applaud you for the purchase. I would take "plenty" (what ever it takes for you to be completely satisfied and comfortable) before leaving the factory. I would then suggest that your take a couple of hundred mile shake-down trip on varied terrain and exercise all the systems and then return and have a technician go over the coach with you to check that there are no leaks and to fix/ adjust anything that is not quite right. You are making a sizable investment and (depending on where you are from) it may be quite difficult if not inconvenient to return?

When we picked up our 06 last year there is a cd that comes with your new coach. It has pretty much all the information that they give you. But, we took some notes too.

I still refer to the tape of my walkthrough of the Inspire on occasion. Even though I made the mistake of taking delivery at the dealership, I still have more information on that tape than on the one provided by CC. Videotape it. When hubby is getting his technical information, wife can do the taping. When looking at 'her area of responsibility' hubby can tape.
Or viseversa if that is the case. ;-)
The shakedown cruise is a great idea. You might also want to make an appointment at the Service Department for the things that cause problems during your shakedown cruise. Because if you don't, there will be problems and you'll have to wait for your appointment.

You say "mistake of taking delivery at the dealership". I'm presuming you mean that the dealership people are not as well prepared as the factory people and that it's worth the trip to the factory? It is a relatively small amount of dollars for travel compared to what we spend on these vehicles.

Some dealerships take all the time you need, but most rush through, especially if it is a Friday and you don't get the coach until 4:00 pm. Or they charge you a lot extra for something that should be included in total buying process. We've had good and bad experiences with PDI's at dealerships and if we were to ever get another coach, we'd seriously consider a factory delivery. (which was not available with our previous brand of RV). We applaud CC for offering this service, even though it costs extra, it is well worth it.
The suggestion of taking a local shake down cruise is necessary because it doesn't matter what you pay, what brand or model, they all are going to need something fixed. It is just the nature of the beast.

Unless things have changed in the last several years, we actually saved dollars and the delivery miles on our coach when we took a factory delivery. We paid extra for the Factory delivery but saved the delivery charge to the dealer.
It also allowed to get some things fixed immediately at the factory, while our dealer (located 350 miles away from our home) would have had to order some of the parts and equipment to fix things including a cracked tile.

We have done 2 factory deliveries, 2001 and 2005 and would not do it again. Lazy Days does a better job at preparing the coach then the factory. When you get it at a dealer they do all the clean up that the factory does not do and the driver gets a chance to shake it down so you don't have the flustration at the factory. You will save delivery money but it is not worth the $900. After all you can't pickup a car at the factory.

There is always trade offs in everything. Delivery miles can be a good thing, like stated previously, and getting a cleaned up coach.
BUT, the crux is the dealer. If you are working with a dealer who is known for their very good deliveries, then that would be the way to go. If not, then you have to weigh the differences between dealer and factory delivery. Each one will have their pros and cons.

Sue's made a good point...it's all "Dealer Specific"...We took delivery in NC at Bill Plemmons (unfortunately no longer a CC dealer) where the first thing the tech told us was "My goal is to give you a 100% perfect coach." ...and he did...unless you count the one screw we found missing from a cabinet door. Everything was perfect out the door. NO problems! No little things rattling, falling off, etc. The fact we had a leaky slide wouldn't be found out for several weeks...and that was a CC issue that he wouldn't have found. He also spent 6 hours making sure we knew how to do everything with the coach before leaving us in it overnight in their full hookup lot.

Dealer prepping is great when done the way it should be.

Sometimes it helps to have someone videoing the delivery presentation by the country coach tech. I have an early case of CRS and anything I can do to help me remember is always a plus.

I took delivery of mine at the factory and I could not believe the number of discrepancies that I found that the CC tech was willing to overlook. Go over the coach with a fine tooth comb.

My AC unit for the coach just quit, it was working and when turned off it would not turn on, fan doesn''t work. Fuse is ok Any one have a similar problem with possible solution??
