Stopped to get fuel out side of baestew, ca. at f/j price $307.9. On to ca. 58 West, The rv is going up and down in the front, Looked down and the Two Red Lights are on on the HWH. Fine a place to get off the road.
The rv will level side to side, but it will not go into the run. The front end will not go up. First the light go out. For about 30 ses. then they come right back on again. Over 50 mph. IT up and down and I do not think it is safe to drive. Any help out there . Thank's Capt.

I had a similar problem last summer. Sounds like you need to replace the front ride height valve. Call Country Coach with your coach number and see if they have the valve you need in stock.
If you can find a Cummins or other truck place, they can take a look at it and confirm what has failed.

Chuck: there might be a work around. First find the HWH control box. In my 2002 Allure, it is under the front dash on the passenger side and there is an accessd pannel attached with screws right in front of the passenger's knees. In side the HWH box you need to find a fuse. On in mine it is fuse #12 and is the only
7.5 amp fuse in the box. You pull this fuse. This
enables you to raise the coach at set ride highth manually. It is a bit of a pain, but it will allow you to drive. When mine failed, CC told me that as long as I did not get drive shaft vibration and noise I would not damage anything with this work around. I ended up putting about 1,500 miles on the coach before getting the valves replaced. CC used to describe this work around at the rallies but a couple of years ago, they stopped telling everyone about it. Dodn;t know why - probably some lawyers!!. Call tech support and ask about it. At a minimum, it will allow you to safely drive the coach to get the repair done.

That is the same thing I did on my coach and it works with no problem. I would further recommend with the coach on level ground, engine running and travel light on, that everyone measure from the ground up across the center of the wheels to a point on the side of coach(recommend edge of wheel well moulding) and record the measurement. At some point everyone will run into the ride height valve problem, therefore it would be a good idea to understand where to manually adjust the ride height after pulling the fuse. On my coach and with my G670RV Goodyear's I use 42.5" as a reference.

Bob and Jim:

The procedure you describe may work provided the valve is functional. It did not work for me.
In my case it was a faulty valve. The U shaped valve which supplies air to the bags, had a shaft coming out of the side with a plastic fitting on the end to which there was a lever attached. Basically, as the coach moves up and down the lever attached to the plastic wheel turns the shaft which supplies/bleeds air from the bags. The plastic wheel on my valve was cracked hence when the lever moved the plastic piece spun on the shaft, but did not turn it. Those valves were replaced ( 2004) with ones having a metal fitting instead of the plastic fitting.

Hi Chuck,

Interesting....did that happen on the ALCAN last year? I wonder if some of the coaches are plumbed different? The one time I used the procedure was when I lost one of the control arms at one of the rear ride height valves. It was completely gone. I had it adjusted at a Cummins shop and the tech apparently did not tighten the bolts and clamps. It work loose and then I lost the travel light and a red light came on showin low corner in rear.

I took a look at the system schematics and it appears that if the selenoid control valves are working properly you can control them manually, bypass the ride height valve, to supply air to the air bag.

Another thought I have not tried, is to adjust the coach height using the HWH leveling control with the engine off and in the park position. Just as if you were leveling the coach for camping. Then pull the HWH fuse before starting the engine. I would think the coach would stay in position. That is, if there are no leaks.

Take care...

After reading about this so many times, I put an interrupt switch in before the #12 fuse and mounted the switch in the switch blank by the floor panel control. Since doing that, I've used it 3 times; no muss no fuss no static from the copilot. I put the ignition switch to on, manually adjust the corner heights until the green light comes, flip the #12 interrupt to off, and start up. A well invested hour or so to make the simple alteration.

Jim:

The valve failed on my way to the Bellingham Ferry. Cummins in Renton was able to "jury rig" it so I could catch the ferry. The "fix" lasted long enough for the ferry trip and driving from Skagway to Whitehorse. When you and I met in Whitehorse, Y.T., I was waiting for the new valve which I think came by dog sled. Once it arrived, Inland Kenworth in Whitehorse did the installation. As I was driving out of their service bay, the bracket for the anti sway bar broke. So, we had to turn the dog sled back around for another trip for parts.
I will look into the fuze pulling procedure again in case I have another failure. I now carry three spare valves.
